The concept of Rosie’s Kitchen is that a meal is the easiest gift to share. I grew up 1 of 10 children (all girls!) in Marion, Massachusetts. In my mind we were poor but we were never hungry. My mom (Rosie, my namesake) was an ingenious cook and hostess. If you came to visit, you could not leave without partaking of Rosie’s hospitality, literally, she was offended if you did not eat at her table. My mother could create a meal, from a meal, from a meal. There was, as my mom would say, ‘always room for one more!’ “The reality is that food should always be accessible and available.”
I believe that the American Dream is becoming an illusion for honest, working class families.
“I believe in the American Dream for all. In the late 1800s, my grandfather sailed into Providence, Rhode Island from Cabo Verde. I could not be asking for your vote today had not my grandparents been given opportunities to make a way in this great nation we call America. I believe there were some honest, sincere citizens that served as mentors and guides to my grandparents. To that end, I believe we must pay it forward.”
